Working with able bodied, Samra is the only teacher in Saffron Walden that offers special yoga – offering yoga to adults and children with special and additional needs.  Samra runs various classes such as :

Stepping into the Unknown: Yoga, Perimenopause and Menopause is a monthly workshop where you can learn how yoga and meditation can help you achieve the balance and escape the uncertainty and challenging time in your life and relieve the symptoms of menopause such as anger, depression, exhaustion, hot flushes and night sweats, erratic period, forgetfulness etc.

Special Yoga for Special Children is therapeutic yoga for children with special and additional needs. Children flourish on energetic, emotional, physical and physiological level with yoga. Child’s breathing pattern may improve over time as well as the nervous system interlinked with their breath. Pranayama (breathing techniques), asanas (yoga postures), meditation, Yoga Nidra and Reflexology are all techniques used to achieve balance through Special Yoga . These classes are best done 1-1 however certain results may be achieved in a group setting and with additional home practice. For enquires, please use the contact details below.

Pregnancy Yoga is an excellent way to prepare you for labour and the birth of your baby. Yoga is an ideal practice during pregnancy as it allows the mother to tune into her breath and baby and prepare herself mentally and physically for labour and the baby’s arrival. A regular yoga practice will result in strength, flexibility, relaxation and confidence on the journey to motherhood. The class will gently weave together a sequence of postures including sun salutations, standing postures, seated postures, and a finishing sequence. A greater focus will be placed on maintaining pelvic stability during the Yoga practice, listening to your body and tuning in to what your body needs during this special time. Blocks, bolsters and straps will be used to ensure proper alignment in the poses. This class is suitable for pregnant women as of week 12. Before your class please fill in a Health Form and read the advice. Please check with your GP or midwife prior to attending the class.

Her classes are therapeutically designed and suited to all abilities. She brings posture work, pranayama (breath awareness) and relaxation to her classes. She believes that Special Yoga is there to help the adults and children achieve their inner peace, joy and comfort and full potential. This is a highly effective and unique therapeutic practice integrating the remedial advantages of yoga, mindful meditation and pranayama (breath awareness and control) and is appropriate for all people and those with special and additional needs. With children – it can help them on energetic, physiological, neurological, mental, physical, and emotional level.

Having previously worked in investment banking and experiencing every day stresses that a busy lifestyle can bring, she re-trained as a yoga teacher and decided to offer the benefits of yoga and meditation to others – initially offering yoga and meditation in the London corporate environment where she worked. She is certified Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance Professionals (Focus Awards Level 4 Diploma in Teaching Yoga (RQF), Special Yoga for Special Children, Special Yoga for Adults with Special and Additional Needs, UK RYT-200/500, Pregnancy Yoga, Yoga Therapy Foundation).
